Obituary for Angelo Garra
ANGELO GARRA, 95, of Jackson Twp., NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2020 at his home. Angelo was born in Ceva, Italy, had resided in Genova, Italy before immigrating to the United States where he became a proud American citizen.
Angelo worked as a steamfitter for his own business, Genesis Mechanical Corporation in New York City, NY for over 20 years, before retiring. In addition, he was also a chiropodist.
Angelo proudly fought in the Italian Partisan Army alongside the Americans against the Nazis during World War II.
An excellent cook, Angelo was known for his Frittata and Bolognese sauce. But above all, he was a cherished husband, devoted father, adored grandfather and great grandfather, beloved brother, loving uncle and a caring neighbor to many in Winding Ways.
He was predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Caterina Garra, his brothers, Ernesto and his wife, Rita and Alberto, his sister, Rina and her husband, Piero and by his wife of 50 years, the love of his life, Anna Lucia Garra in 2001. Angelo is survived by his daughters, Christina and her daughters, Valeria and her husband Marco, Giorgia and his great grandchildren, Tommy and Agata, all of Genoa, Italy; Susan and her husband, Bob of Howell Twp., NJ and their children, Christiana and her husband Bryan and Nick; his son, John and his wife, Liana of Genoa, Italy and their children, Danny and Dylan; his sisters-in-law, Nadia and Anna Maria; and by his nieces and nephews throughout northern Italy.
Due to the CDC guidelines pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral arrangements are private and under the care of the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson, NJ. Entombment will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Freehold Twp., NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ocean County Animal Shelter, 615 Freemont Ave, Jackson, NJ 08527, and would be greatly appreciated.
