Obituary for Charles H. Calabrese
CHARLES H. CALABRESE, 80, loving husband of Phyllis V. Calabrese, a resident of Jackson Twp., ,NJ, formerly of Holmdel, NJ, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on March 22, 2018.
A lifelong resident of New Jersey, He was born and raised in Newark, living in Livingston and Holmdel before retiring to Jackson Twp.
Charlie was a United States Army Veteran serving as a Private.
He was employed with Prudential Life Insurance for more than 40 years, serving as the Director of Communications for the last decade of his career. In his retirement he was active as a member of the Board of Directors at Westlake, the Italian American Club, and the “Do Nothing” club. He also treasured time spent with his family, friends and especially his cherished grandchildren.
Charlie was predeceased by his Parents, Charles and Filomena Calabrese; and by his Sisters, Clara Gerard and Rose Carollo. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Phyllis, a loving father to his children, David Calabrese and his wife, Connie of Mendham, NJ, and Stephen Calabrese of Keyport, NJ. He was the adoring grandfather of his grandchildren, Julie, Catie, Melissa, and Madison, and a loving brother to Nancy Pepe of Nutley, NJ.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 3-7 PM on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 9:30 AM on Monday, March 26, 2018, at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Monica, 679 W. Veterans Hwy, Jackson Twp., NJ. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charles’ memory to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 and would be greatly appreciated.
