Frederick A.  Lauffer
FREDERICK A. LAUFFER, of Jackson Twp., NJ, and the Villages, FL, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at home. He was born on August 2, 1934, in the Bronx, NY, and lived in Bergen County, Rochelle Park, Woodcliff Lake, Hackensack, Ridgewood, and Mahwah before moving south 10 years ago.
Fred was an Honorably Discharged Navy Veteran of the Korean War who served our country proudly, receiving the Navy Occupation Service Medal.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickerson University. Fred was a retired manager from ITT Avionics after a thirty two year career.
He is a Fellow and former President of the Society of Logistics Engineer’s, and in 1986, received the Distinguished Service Award for his longtime service to the organization. Fred also held the title of Master of the Fidelity Lodge, #113 of Ridgewood, NJ, in 1982.
He was also a member of the American Legion Post 53, Ridgewood, NJ, Salaam Temple, Livingston, NJ, Zabub #5, Hackensack, NJ, and the Trout Unlimited of East Jersey.
Fred couldn’t get enough of life nor the things he loved the most, family, hunting, fishing, and golfing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his loving Wife of 60 years, Jeanne M. Lauffer (formally Jeanne DuPuis); his Son, Frederick Lauffer; and by his Sister, Barbara Bourassa. Fred is survived by his Son, Richard J. Lauffer and his Wife, Jacqueline; his Daughter, Laura Saltamach and her Husband, Mark; his two Grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Saltalamacchia; and by his Brother Warren Lauffer and his Wife, Audrey.
He is not dead, just away and his memory will also live on through numerous family and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Friday, December 15, 2017, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 8:00 AM followed by his Funeral Service at 8:30 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Rd., Paramus, NJ 07652. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Frederick’s memory to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691 or the American Cancer Society, 2310 Rt. 34, Suite 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736 and would be greatly appreciated.
