Michael J.  Loughery
MICHAEL JOHN LOUGHERY, 77 of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, at home. He was born in Staten Island, NY, and resided there until settling in Jackson Twp. 12 years ago.
Michael attended Fordham University and graduated from John Jay College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
He was employed for 25 years as a Police Officer with the New York City Police Department, retiring in 1987, from the first precinct with the rank of Sergeant. During his law enforcement career with the NYPD, Michael worked at the 6th Precinct as an Officer, the 7th Precinct in the Narcotics Unit, the 9th Precinct as the Detective Squad Sergeant, and the 1st Precinct as the Squad Commander, the Commanding Officer, and the PDS Sergeant. After his retirement with the NYPD, he worked with Advantage Security, Manhattan, NY, for several years.
Michael was a Past President of the National Law Enforcement Association, a member of the Jersey Shore 1013 Club, the NYPD Emerald Society, the Ancient Order of the Hibernians and the West Lake Golf Club.
He was a communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson Twp.
Michael loved reading, golf, fishing with his grandchildren and traveling with his wife Mary.
He was predeceased by his Parents, Joseph and Bridget Loughery. Michael is survived by his Wife of 53 years, Mary Loughery; his Son, Jeffrey Loughery (NYPD Ret.)and his Wife, Diane; his Daughters, Kathleen Loughery and Susan Evanowski and her Husband, Stan; and by his 8 Grandchildren, Michael, who is currently serving in the USMC, Andrea, James, Daniel, Jake, Noelani, JD and Erin.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 8:30 AM on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. A private cremation will follow. If so desired, contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to Catholic Charities, PO Box 1423, Trenton, NJ 08607-1423 and would be greatly appreciated.
