JOSEPHINE (JO) C. OLIVERI, 85, of Jackson, Twp., NJ, passed away quietly on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Bartley Healthcare in Jackson. She was born in Manhattan, NY, and lived in Brooklyn, NY, before moving to Jackson 54 years ago.
Jo was an assistant buyer for Gimbels Department Store, NY, and she managed Freeman’s Bakery in Jackson. She worked for the Jackson School District as a Title One Home-School Coordinator before retiring from the Lakewood School District as a Preschool Teacher Assistant.
She was a communicant at The Church of St. Veronica, Howell, NJ, where she also was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and volunteered as an adorer for the Adoration Chapel.
Jo also enjoyed being a Girls Scout leader. She made an impact on all those who met her. Fifty-two years of marriage began when she married on October 2, 1954, until the passing of the late Gaspare Oliveri, Jr. in 2006.
She is survived by her 3 children, Fina Halen and son-in-law David Halen of Howell, NJ, Gaspare Oliveri, III and Companion Michele Norwoood of Bonita Springs, FL, and Eli Oliveri and daughter-in-law Regina Replinger of Jackson, NJ; and 5 Grandsons, Daniel, Matthew, Gaspare, IV, Nicholas, Elias; and 3 great grandchildren, Gaspare, V, Zaiden, and Cali. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Leon Ben-Ezra; and several nieces and nephews.
Family meant the world to her; as she repeatedly stated, “I love my children, I love my family.”
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, from 4-8 PM at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. Her Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 9:30 AM at The Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 N, Howell Twp., NJ. Please meet at church at 9:15 AM. Interment to follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, 454 Tennent Rd., Tennent, NJ.
